Kenia & Phillipe’s Wedding: When Galo de Barcelos meets Tacos
Kenia & Phillipe on their wedding day
The Groom: Portuguese Heat & Heart
A Portuguese tradition: Home made bacon
I knew I was in for a ride the second I walked in. All Portuguese, all love, all volume, the good kind. Family had flown in from Portugal, and the house felt like home: laughter in every room, food on every table, and tradition in every corner.
Front and center was Avó, the matriarch. The kind of presence that quiets a room without saying a word. Every hug from her carried history. This wasn’t just a wedding morning, it was generations showing up.
Everywhere I turned, there were symbols of pride: the Galo de Barcelos watching from a shelf, casual nods to CR7 and the Seleção, conversations bouncing between jokes, memories, and last-minute tie fixes. The language, the warmth, the rhythm, it’s unmistakably Portuguese. Uma casa Portuguesa concerteza.

The groom? Calm, sharp, ready. Surrounded by his people, fueled by love and a little chaos, the best recipe, like his dad walking around in his boxers. We kept it moving, kept it real, and let the story write itself.
Favorite frames from the morning:
A quiet moment with Avó, all heart, no words needed.
The groom in the doorway, family buzzing behind him.
Hands adjusting the suit, straightening the tie, uncles coaching, cousins laughing, groomsman setting the chaos
The Galo de Barcelos in the background, like a signature on the day, and the CR7 socks
On a day built on two cultures, this was the Portuguese heartbeat, loud, warm, proud. Perfect start.
The Bride: Mexican Spice & Radiance
Kenia admiring her dress
If the groom’s morning was full of Portuguese pride, Kenia’s was pure Mexican spice. From the second I walked in, she was smiling from the get-go, the kind of smile that lights up every room before I even raise my camera.
Her makeup was flawless, highlighting those beautiful eyes that carried both excitement and calm. And her hair? Styled in a way that made her look every bit the Ranchera princess. Regal, elegant, but still fiery in her own way.
Around her, the vibe was pure celebration. Laughter bouncing between family and friends, Spanish conversations flowing as easily as the music in the background. Everything felt alive, colorful, and full of rhythm.
Favorite frames from the morning:
Kenia laughing with her bridesmaids, veil in hand.
A close-up of those eyes, framed perfectly by her makeup artist’s work.
Her mom adjusting the final details of her dress, hands trembling with emotion.

Where Phillipe’s side brought the grounded warmth of Portugal, Kenia’s morning brought the energy, color, and sparkle of Mexico. Together, it was already shaping up to be the perfect fusion.
The Ceremony: Where Portugal Met Mexico
When it came time for the vows, it was no longer two mornings, two homes, or two traditions, it was one family, one heartbeat. The ceremony was a true Portuguese–Mexican fusion, led by not one but two priests: a warm, passionate Latino voice and a grounded Portuguese presence.
From the first prayer, you could feel it: love, family, communion, and God wrapped around everyone in the room. This wasn’t just a ritual; it was a blessing layered in two languages, two cultures, but the same spirit.
There were smiles everywhere. Cousins grinning ear to ear, parents bursting with pride. And then the tears of joy, the kind that sneak out when you realize this moment is bigger than words.
And through it all, there was Avó, sitting, watching, holding it together like the matriarch she is. She didn’t need to speak; her presence said everything. For her, this wasn’t just about Phillipe and Kenia. It was about seeing her family’s roots stretch, intertwine, and grow into something new.

Group shot outside the church
It was a ceremony that felt like a bridge between continents. Portugal and Mexico meeting at the altar, with God smiling over the whole thing. And then, right after, a literal bubbles shower and the group shot outside, where we turned it into a full-blown contest to see who could scream louder: the Mexicans or the Portuguese. I think the Portuguese won… but I might be a little biased. Portugal, Façam barulhoooo!
The Bridal Party Shots: Elegance Meets Madness
After the ceremony, it was time to let loose with the bridal party, and this crew did not disappoint. On one side, you had the girls: pure elegance, glowing with happiness, their smiles lighting up every frame. They brought grace, poise, and that effortless beauty that makes group portraits look like magazine spreads.
On the other side, the boys were… well, the boys. Pure chaos in the best way. The suits were sharp, but the energy was sharper. At one point, the session turned into a highlight reel of CR7’s legendary “SIUUUUUUU!” celebration, arms stretched wide, voices echoing, and laughter exploding from every corner.
It was the perfect mix: elegance from the girls, craziness from the guys, all wrapped together in a way that showed exactly who this bridal party was, supportive, loud, joyful, and unforgettable.
The Bride & Groom Portraits: Pure Joy in Motion
Phillipe & Kenia in a candid moment
When it came time for the couple portraits, I had a plan, but Kenia and Phillipe said “The hell with it”: It was just uncontrollable joy. The effort to keep a straight face? Gone. They couldn’t stop laughing, kissing, and just having the time of their lives.
Normally, I guide my couples through a few signature poses, cinematic setups that I know always deliver. But with these two, the “poses” didn’t stand a chance. Every time I lined something up, they broke into another burst of laughter or a kiss that felt so raw and real I had no choice but to roll with it.
And honestly? That’s what made it perfect. Forget stiff posing, this was them, unfiltered, giving me the most authentic moments of the day.
Of course, I did sneak in a few cinematic frames (old habits die hard), framing them against the light, letting the environment add drama. But the real magic came from just stepping back and letting their energy write the story.
These weren’t just portraits, they were snapshots of two people madly in love, caught in their own bubble, forgetting the world around them.
The Reception: A Fusion Fiesta, vira vira mix, Like No Other
If the ceremony was heartfelt and emotional, the reception was the exact opposite. High octane, full throttle, no brakes. As usual with entertainment stars, the vibe behind the scenes was already buzzing, shots flowing, everyone hyped, while Marco, the DJ, built the perfect atmosphere for what was about to erupt.

And then came the entrance. Pure adrenaline. The energy hit the room like a wave, and it never came down. Portuguese and Mexican flags waving, friends and family screaming, clapping, chanting, it was more stadium than reception hall.
Crowd screaming “Siuuuuuuuuu”
The party itself? Non-stop. Music, laughter, and games kept the dance floor alive. And just when people thought they’d seen it all, in came a live Mariachi band, the ultimate Mexican tradition. Trumpets, guitars, violins, voices belting, the sound was electric, the emotion undeniable.
From Portuguese chants to Mexican rhythms, tequila shots to vinho verde, it was a night that didn’t just celebrate a marriage, it celebrated two cultures colliding in the best possible way. This wasn’t just a wedding reception. It was a fusion fiesta, vibrant, loud, and unforgettable.
Two Cultures, One Love
Looking back on Kenia & Phillipe’s day, it’s hard to put into words just how special it was. From the Portuguese pride of the groom’s morning, to the Mexican sparkle of the bride’s preparations, from a ceremony filled with faith, family, and Avó’s watchful presence, to a reception that turned into a fusion fiesta and bailinho for the ages, every moment was alive with meaning.
What made this wedding unforgettable wasn’t just the stunning details, the flags, the music, or even the Mariachi band. It was the way two cultures met, embraced, and celebrated together, proof that love doesn’t just join two people, it unites families, histories, and traditions.
Kenia and Phillipe, thank you for trusting me to tell your story. It was an honour to capture not only your laughter, your kisses, and your tears of joy, but the spirit of your families, your roots, and your future together.
Here’s to a life as vibrant, passionate, and full of love as the day you said “I do.”
Last, but not least, a big thank you to all the vendors who work so hard to give Phillipe & Kenia and unforgettable day, as well as my team, Sahil and Elyse Heise, who had a huge contribution to make these pictures memorable.
